Mission

Mission

For humans, regardless of their Nationality, status, or migration journey, to be empowered to make informed decisions to manage the risk & harm they are exposed to by closed border regimes. For humans to have the means to bear witness when their rights are abused & for those voices to be amplified. For a UK that provides a lawful, compassionate asylum & Immigration system rooted in care & respect for people forced to migrate.

HfRN is a need led Human Rights organisation, established to facilitate safety & dignity for people forced to migrate, to advocate for a rights-based approach to the movement of people throughout Northern Europe, and to represent humans whose rights are violated.  We are led and informed by the Migrants we work with and collaborate to address mistreatment and challenge systemic and structural racism & discrimination and the harmful impact of these.

Organisational objectives -

  • Detect, connect, support and advocate. Our work is built around these four core principles. By connecting with communities and those subjected to hostile immigration policies and border regimes in the UK, we can identify arising issues and work with those effected to identify strategies to ensure accountability and justice.

  • To work with those directly effect by hostile border regimes to develop a resourced protective network of witnesses.

  • To gather evidence of hostile border policies and the harm caused to people forced to migrate in order to force accountability and justice. This will include particular focus on loss of life and

  • To provide the tools and information to ensure that people effected by and harmed by hostile border regimes are equipped to document this abuse should they so wish

  • Facilitate access to justice both individually and collectively, to address systemic harms

  • Connecting with organisations nationwide to provide training and gather evidence

  • Working with networks to connect with and share info about our work with people in accommodations

  • To develop an organisation that represents the individuals it seeks to stand in solidarity with, including ensuring that accurate and representative narratives and voices are a part of wider conversations regarding the change that is needed and the accountability that is required.

  • To expose and challenge those responsible for these systemic harms.

Our Vision is:

To ensure displaced people are granted fundamental and basic human rights, which we are all legally, obligated to receive.

To prevent further violations at the hands of those in positions of power.

To create systemic change to protect our human rights no matter person, creed or colour.
